Background on Ranin

Ranin (RAY-nin) is a rogue, pure and simple. Given the Ring of Light as part of his birthright heritage, Ranin created havoc in his hometown of Singe, eventually making the town look like its namesake.

Power-hungry, Ranin went off in search of other conquests and met a woman he dearly loved, whose soul was as dark as Ranin's ring was bright. This Lady Soracia seduced Ranin to the wonders of the dark forces and lured him to the ranks of her Shadow organization. Ranin soon became Soracia's consort and years passed with the two lovers leading Soracia's band of ruffians and scoundrels to obtain taboo treasures and achieve their own dark agendas.

Ranin learned that he was part of a larger group of people known as the Children of the Ring and that his lady love held the Ring of Shadow. Hungry for even more power and unwilling to continue playing second fiddle to his significant other, Ranin proved to be an apt pupil and stole the ring from Soracia, his lady fair. Using his own powers to invoke the dark forces, Ranin bound the Ring of Shadows with his own Ring of Light and banished Soracia into a glass music box, where she lives on in suspended animation. The music box goes wherever he goes. Some say he still loves Soracia too much to kill her. Others say Ranin is just keeping her as a future power source. Probably a bit of both.

Ranin sees everything as a sport and is never willing to appear inconfident lest he loses advantage. His dark nature is normally hidden by a jovial smile and jocular nature. Only his eyes betray his greed and craftiness.

Ranin now leads the band Soracia had gathered. Ever power-hungry, Ranin is searching for more of the Children (or "RingKeepers") in hopes of ultimately attaining all the Children's rings.
