Separated at Birth

Since we saw the trailer for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last week, I’ve been trying to figure out just what Johnny Depp’s Willy Wonka look reminds me of. Then last night it hit me:

Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka Amelie Poster

He looks like Amélie!

But then, while looking for photos to demonstrate this connection, I discovered a more disturbing resemblance:

Hmmm… A Chocolate Orange?

Somehow, I don’t think “whack and unwrap” are good instructions for any of the above individuals.

    Whack and unwrap?

I have now seen Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars. Squee!

“Whack and unwrap” is the instruction line printed on the wrapper of a brand of chocolate orange candy. The only brand out there in the US right now is Terry’s, which I haven’t read lately, but there used to be another—Tobler, I think—that definitely said it. The candy in question is shaped like an orange, and when whacked against a hard surface, separates into wedges with an orange-pulp pattern on them. There’s a raspberry too, but it’s not as good.

Hehehe. Great minds think alike. Jim made the first comparison as well when we came out of Batman Begins.
