Flash Ring Contest Ending Early!

Due to circumstances beyond our control at Speed Force, the Design and Win Your Own Flash Ring contest is ending early, at midnight tonight (Pacific Daylight Time). If you want to get your design in, now’s your chance. Or take a look at some of the great designs submitted so far.

Sorry to spring this on everyone on such short notice, but it was just dropped on us today.

Centenarian Sweeps

I’ve been frequenting a couple of nearby smoothie shops this summer, including Jamba Juice. Lately they’ve got an interesting contest:

Live to be 100 Sweepstakes

OK, it’s a sweepstakes promoting a book on “Hundreds of ways to live to be 100,” but the way the promo is phrased makes me think of a different kind of contest entirely. I mean, it seems pretty clear who wins: anyone who enters, then lives to be 100, wins.

So what do you give the lucky 100-year-olds as prizes? A lifetime supply of smoothies?

Rummy Caption Contest

The BBC has posted an interesting article on the US Military’s plans for Internet operations. But that’s not what I want to write about here. What I want to write about is this accompanying photo of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld:

AFP photo of Donald Rumsfeld holding his hands out.

The article mentions that messages put out for psychological operations in foreign markets are making their way back to American audiences. I’m not sure this photo qualifies as PsyOps, but I think it does qualify for a caption contest.*

Please post your suggestions in the comments.

*OK, you won’t win anything, but with luck the other entries will make you laugh.
