The BBC has posted an interesting article on the US Military’s plans for Internet operations. But that’s not what I want to write about here. What I want to write about is this accompanying photo of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld:

AFP photo of Donald Rumsfeld holding his hands out.

The article mentions that messages put out for psychological operations in foreign markets are making their way back to American audiences. I’m not sure this photo qualifies as PsyOps, but I think it does qualify for a caption contest.*

Please post your suggestions in the comments.

*OK, you won’t win anything, but with luck the other entries will make you laugh.

  1. What makes Rummy so fun is that most of his quotes could be used for this picture! Here’s one of my favorites:

“There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unkowns. That is to say, there are things we know we don’t know. But, there are also unknown unknowns. These are things we don’t know we don’t know.”

  2. Yo yo yo wazzup my homies
They give me mad props for hunting commies
I don’t need no bling cuz I’m super phat
And the ladies all dig my Pentagon hat!

  3. Wow! I think people must have figured they couldn’t top that one!

I posted a link in a Slashdot thread where someone else had commented on the photo, but despite over 100 hits from that link, only fak3r seems to have had any ideas. There were some suggestions elsewhere in the thread, though, including:

    “Braaaaains!”
    Variations on “All your base…”
    More Emperor Palpatine references

On a related note, when I went looking for a larger copy of the photo, I found a page on Rumsfeld Fighting Technique, which is worth a look.

  4. I thought of the Emperor first too, but I got a sort of a Garden State unoriginal feeling about it, so I went with something else.
