- Argh! Why is it that every time I plan a Costco trip I forget my membership card? #
- Why is so much spam sent to postmaster accounts? Seems counterproductive to target abuse contact–it's a topic, not an invitation. #
- Misread spam w/"SLIMFIT"-something-or-other in all-caps as "SLIME IT." I blame having watched Ghostbusters 2 this weekend #

Thursday, November 16th, 2006 Posted in Spam | No Comments »Every once in a while, a comment spam manages to get past both Bad Behavior and Spam Karma. Oddly enough, it always seems to be on the same entry: “Abuse Contact” is not an invitation.
I guess spammers like a challenge as much as anyone else.

Saturday, January 21st, 2006 Posted in Spam | 4 Comments »I handle the abuse contact for an ISP’s domain name. Normally this doesn’t take up much of my inbox. Even the “Your users are spamming” messages (in response to forged senders) have dropped off.
Since last night, though, the abuse and tech support contacts that filter into my inbox have collected 42 44 spams advertising the “Body Bouncer,” which claims to “take the gravity out of sex.”* Distributed IPs, random content, 6 different subjects (so far). What they have in common are a sales pitch in an image, and a link to their website.
