Never waited more than 15 minutes for a shuttle in vegas in my 26 years here, the convention center has covered sealed air conditioned walkways above the street that access several resorts like the sands. I've been to the strip countless times during CES and never had to wait to be seated in a resaurant. Las vegas's whole identity is being the city that can handle events that seem huge and outrageous. Prices in vegas are ALWAYS cheaper than food in other cities. Casinos operate at a loss on food sometimes because they know people will drop $20 in a machine on the way in or out. Where else can you find a filet and lobster dinner for $6.99. Vegas is the place , and i know after the first year everyone will be saying "they should have moved it here years ago." Let's face facts San Diego = ZOO + Chargers, Las Vegas = Humongous awesome party town

No, I do not think all Vegas residents live on the Strip. (How? The houses are all out elsewhere.) Thank you, though, for pointing out my unintentional equating of the city with the Strip; it wasn't an attempt to say they are one and the same, but I believe that most congoers wouldn't be in a position to discover the difference. I am perfectly aware that the majority of Vegas is composed of suburban sprawl. We've driven, and been shuttled, through quite a bit of it in efforts to avoid Strip traffic. But the basic rule of humanity, that People Are Lazy, dictates that most people attending a convention held near (and possibly partially on) the Strip will want to eat and sleep close to the Strip, and/or will be unable to get far enough away to see much of the rest of the city. In SD, most of the out-of-towners eat and recreate near either the convention center or their hotels, and that's in a place where tourists are encouraged to use the public transportation to do things outside the downtown area. I admit that I haven't researched the public transportation outside the Strip area, but as I've been a tourist attending events exclusively in the Strip area, I haven't had a need. You can bet (no pun intended) that I would, though, if the con were to move.

Vegas also still permits smoking indoors in most places, including nearly all hotel common areas and casinos. That makes it a no-go for those who are sensitive to smoke.

Don't rule out Las Vegas completely. It's not that far from California and we depend on tourism and conventions to keep our economy going, that means that in these tough times most places will be glad for the business. Plus all the hotels are in close vicinity to the LVCC and all the other smaller convention spaces.

Thanks for finally talking some sense about this. Comic-con is not moving to Vegas. Yes the hotel space is an issue in SD but there are plans to build more. And the 140,000 hotel rooms in Vegas? one problem that people often overlook is the availability. Have you ever tried to get a room in Vegas the night of a big fight or convention? Nearly impossible. Yes they have a lot of hotel rooms but they are usually running at low vacancy rates. The reason they have so many is because so many people go there.

The problem with CCI currently isn't the floorspace. I have never had trouble getting around the actual floor. Also there is plenty of room for indie exhibitors in other areas of the convention center.

The problem is the size of the ballrooms just not being big enough. Even the largest ball rooms in San Diego fill up quickly. If you even want to have a chance to catch a popular panel you better be prepared to wait in line for a couple hours. On Saturday I noticed people who were in line through two panels cause they don't force people to leave the panel that just finished.

CCI if moved needs to have Meeting Rooms twice as big as 6A-F. That are conveniently close enough to the main exhibition hall to reduce travel time. Personally though I want it to stay in San Diego cause I find the city and surrounding areas amazing. Perhaps an expansion to the current convention center would be a better idea.
