I think I've finally figured out what it reminds me of: an <a href="http://images.google.com/images?q=atari+st">Atari ST</a>! Ugh. DRM and it forces you to convert things before you use them? No, thanks.

And you have to convert all your other files before they'll work on the kindle. Plus it's quite possibly the most hideous thing ever. :) From what I’ve read, Kindle books do have DRM.
