Unconventional Naming
October 14th, 2005 by Kelson. Posted in Comics, Strange World and tagged for batman, HarleyQuinn, Kevin Smith, NicholasCage, SupermanI was recently reminded that Kevin Smith’s daughter is named Harley Quinn Smith. At the time I thought it was crazy (though really, who am I to talk about people naming their kids after fictional characters?), but compared to Nicholas Cage naming his son Kal-El, it seems positively ordinary.

I’m just not sure about Kal-El. Clark Kent Cage, sure, but Kal-El? School teachers have a hard enough time with non-standard spellings of Earth names, let alone Kryptonese.
Our oldest son is named after a soda company. *grins* We like unconventional! Shorten Kal-El to Kal or El for nicknaming and it sounds like it’ll work just fine.
