I remember that cruise ship sign, now! I only get down to San Diego once or twice a year (Comic-Con and the occasional random trip), so I didn't realize they'd taken it down.

It's too bad I didn't have a digital camera back when the sign was up. My photo habits have changed considerably now that I don't have to worry about using up film on potentially-bad shots. (On the other hand, I'm not sure it would have occurred to me to take a picture of it back then.)

Thanks for the restaurant tip -- we'll have to check it out at some point.

[...] We ended up leaving around 6:00, went back to our hotel, showered, changed, and went out to dinner at the Indigo Grill (which we had walked past on our way to and from the con two years ago). It turned out to be very good. Highly recommended. [...]

Ha ha, it's really great seeing my beloved adopted home town (home suburb?) with new eyes. Too bad you missed the "Cruise Ships Exit Here" sign on I-5 that was, removed by a humor-challenged Highway Department a few years ago.

If you are in Little Italy, I recommend The Waterfront near Grape and Kettner for beer, amazingly good burgers and atmosphere. The waitresses are terminally friendly. B

Can I just say, "Martini Ranch" is a rather popular night club/bar? I've never been there myself, but apparently it's very popular (Too popular for me :) ). Congratulations on discovering Stonehenge -- perhaps I've seen you ambling there?

Welcome to San Diego, a city of many façades and many contrasts, and welcome back in the future :)
