Two billboards featuring the tablet and keyboard for the Surface tablet.

I like the use of dual billboards in this Windows 8/Microsoft Surface tablet ad. It’s a creative use of the structure that only works in places that have this sort of setup, and works more effectively than cramming the whole thing onto one billboard would.

  1. I like it, too. I think I am beginning to feel the same way about the Surface as I did about Palm products once I gave up on them (or vice versa).

I want to see them succeed even though I have decided that the current offerings aren’t quite right for me.

    • I know what you mean. I think there’s a really good case for keeping the competition honest, so to speak, in a lot of these situations that tend to resolve into one main player and a secondary player (like Microsoft & Apple on the desktop) or two major players and a bunch of smaller ones. You need at least two viable players to keep things innovative, and I think Apple and Android have that (finally – the Nexus line seems to have been the breakthrough that Android tablets have been trying to achieve since the iPad was announced), but three or four is better, and strangely enough it looks like Microsoft is in a better position than RIM these days.
