On the one hand, I doubt ten to fifteen cents will provide enough disincentive, but on the other hand, people get quite heated over &quot;the principle of the thing&quot; whether it&#039;s fifteen dollars or fifteen cents.

The idea of donating that money makes it easy to shame the person if they decide to &quot;loud talk&quot; the cashier (i.e. attempting to shame him or her) by claiming that the policy is motivated by greed.

That said, I haven&#039;t seen anyone with too many items get in the express line in quite a while.  I hope my luck holds out.</description>
