I received one of these awards myself - the thought is always appreciated even if all these memes don't have any significance. I did do a little tracking also and found an international horse racing prize with a similar name: El Gran Premio Dardo Rocha. In 2007 Itamar won this race when it was held in Argentina. That horse is Peruvian. Maybe that had something to do with the start of this in Spanish language blogs. Who knows?

Aaaah! Thank you!! I've been searching for this info myself. I was given this award yesterday, but it had no name, and the picture was so small no-one could read the text!

¡muchas gracias!

Funny, Nigel, that's exactly what crossed my mind. But now the "award" has been translated into other languages. I have received one in Portuguese (I'm Brazilian). I was immediately suspicious, though. What is the purpose of this? Who started it? And what "honor" is there in receiving an "award" that spreads exponentially through a chain scheme? If it never stops, all blogs will eventually have it.

I was recently "tagged" for this award. The mutation included a list of fifteen personal questions with instructions to answer fourteen of them, remove one question (one that you don't like) and replace it with one of your own creation. I haven't given much thought to the questions or to whom I will pass the award; the first thing I wanted to do was trace the origin, like you did! Nicely done. I wonder how and when the survey questions were added.

Posted on February 14, 2009 by lucy Thanks to Julianne Douglas at Writing the Renaissance, I’ve been included the latest “tagging meme” or chain recommendation game. This is the “Premio Dardos”, which seems to have originated in the Spanish-language blogosphere nearly a year ago. I rushed off to do some digging to find out more.
I've been trying to trace this back too. My paranoid side wonders if this has something to do with someone listed on adsense because adverts on the dado sites seem to pull ads for darts accesories :)
