It all started with 'free seating'. Then, amongst an atmosphere more akin to a junior school hall where the headmistress and teachers are late, some poor guy got on the stage before everything started to ask about a lost cellphone or something. He was shouted at and ridiculed. Then, as you point out - the incessant talking! No wonder attendance is low. You don't get the same 'group experience' effect at home but at least you watch the movie on your terms - and screens just keep getting bigger! In South Africa, we're pretty tame.
