the co-creator and co-writer (not JJ, sorry cant remember his name) of Lost is a GL fan.
How do i know? in the special features of the DVD’s you see him at the comicon wearing a GL T-shirt the same as the one i own. woot!

My theories on walt and the comic-
Walt has some special abilities, i think, as his stepfather said “things happen when hes around….”
And the polar bear HAS ONLY APPEARED WHEN WALT HAS BEEN READING THE COMIC.
