I’m a thirty-ish web developer living in Orange County, California with my wife and our computers. I graduated from the University of California, Irvine, where I studied computer science and acting. I haven’t done much with the acting since college. I work at SpeedGate Communications developing interactive web applications and e-commerce sites.
I’m a big fan of science-fiction, fantasy, and comics. I enjoy live theater (yes, musicals included), and I love to read. My favorite authors writing today are Neil Gaiman, Greg Keyes, Julie Czerneda and Robert J. Sawyer. I also have large collections of Larry Niven, Isaac Asimov, Robert Asprin, a couple of Anne McCaffrey series (though I stopped reading the Pern books after the book that was supposed to wrap up the series), Ursula LeGuinn’s Earthsea series, and Michael Moorcock.
My favorite TV shows of all time would have to be Babylon 5 and Farscape, though I enjoyed Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel as well. This year I’m watching Flashforward, Leverage and Castle, and when they come back from hiatus, Lost and Better Off Ted. My favorite movies would be the original Star Wars trilogy, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Young Frankenstein, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Dark City, and The Princess Bride. Musically my tastes run toward what was called “alternative” in the 1990s. Tori Amos, Aimee Mann, Gin Blossoms, Vertical Horizon, Barenaked Ladies.
In the past few years, I’ve gotten involved in promoting web standards and alternative browsers.
I wrote up this Geek Code back when that sort of thing was popular. I’ve updated it a couple of times, and the decoder is still online. I’ll probably delete it eventually, but I figure I may as well keep it here for now.
